Congratulations to Maisam Jafri: MD-PhD student Maisam Jafri is beginning his second year of medical school and will start his PhD program in January, when he’ll join the Gurtner Lab as a biomedical engineering student. After nomination by the Department of Biomedical Engineering he received recognition for his talents through an award from the Haq Family Scholarship, which will provide $34,000 per year for up to 5 years. He will work with Geoffrey Gurtner, MD, FACS, department chair of surgery, and Kellen Chen, PhD, assistant research professor of surgery on therapies to improve outcomes after injury, skin grafting, chronic wound development, biomedical device implantation, and more.
